In this section we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having unlimited or limited miles. At a first glance, everybody may think that the unlimited miles option is the best one; however, if you do not want to spend a lot of money, this may not be the best option. But, perhaps, it is; let’s see.
Unlimited miles: This option gives you the possibility to drive any distance and not have to pay extra money if you exceed the miles. Be it 150 or 10000 kilometers, the price is exactly the same. Though, you must know that the price for unlimited miles is closer to what they would charge you for 10000 km and not for 150 km. Having that in mind you can consider this option. Let’s suppose you rent a car in Madrid and you are thinking of driving across certain regions of Spain. In this case, the unlimited miles option would be the best since you do not know how many miles you will drive. You may know how many but it is not convenient to have limited miles, since you may change routes or stay in a place for two weeks. This may happen since Spain has many beautiful places that can call your attention. If you choose limited miles because of the miles you think you are going to drive, it may be a problem due to the different variables.

Limited miles: This option consists of a given number of miles that you hire when picking up the car. If you exceed that limit, the agency will charge you for every kilometer you exceed. This option is quite useful for people who go on business trips or who use the car to go to a meeting or dinner party. If you know you will not drive many miles, you can choose this option. Obviously, you have to set a limit you know you will not exceed. You will use fewer miles than expected, but this difference will be much less that the cost of unlimited miles. For example, if you hire 400 kilometers and use only 230 kilometers, you will have pay for those extra 170 km but they will be less than paying for unlimited miles ?i.e., more than what it costs unlimited miles minus the 230 km.
